Our second beer tasting evening of 2021 sees us bringing down Sawmill Brewery from Matakana. 7 beers, 3 food matches + snacks. Tickets $40.

About Sawmill Brewery:

Our mission at the Sawmill Brewery + Smoko Room is to protect and preserve our shared resources – land, sea, soil and water.

We acknowledge Ngati Manuhiri on whose ancestral land the Brewery + Smoko Room sit and their continuing kaitiakitanga of it. We also recognise the taonga that are the native ingredients we use in our menu.

We are an independent, New Zealand owned brewery run by a small team. For 16 years we have been brewing fresh quality beer using New Zealand grown hops and malted barley.

Independence means thinking for ourselves. We have an ethos of resourcefulness and creativity in how our brewery is run. We are proud to be New Zealand’s first B Corp certified Brewery.

The Brewery was established in 2004 on the site of what was once a local timber mill established in the 1860’s. In February 2016 we moved from the original site in Leigh, and we now work from premises just out of Matakana at 1004 Leigh Road.

Limited tickets available so get in early.

The night will start at around 6pm, but you are welcome to come in earlier.

Explore the world of Craft Beer! Join our Brewer, Andrew Ranum, for a guided tasting across 6 different beer styles, plus a Dessert and Beer pairing. Learn about the brewing process and ingredients. Find out why the world is going crazy for craft! Discover your new favourite beer! The evening runs from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.

Join us for the next in our monthly beer tasting series. It’ll be choice, bro!

This month, we are being joined by Manaia Hunt – head brewer of Choice Bros Brewing.

Come hear about Manaia’s journey into beer, and about the brewery and bar. And, taste and learn about the beers.

This event is not just for “bros”! All are welcome.

The tasting will include:

– a starter beer on arrival

– six tasters

– tales about ales (and lagers) from the brewer

– light snacks to keep you sated

The first rule of Wine Club is you don’t miss Wine Club.

This month we’re exploring small, independent & perhaps unknown and under-appreciated wines from local producers from regions like West Auckland, Nelson, Canterbury and Martinborough. We’re also collaborating with Dan from The Artisan Hub to showcase independent cheese producers from around Aotearoa – we’ll taste and learn about sheep cheese, cheese washed in beer & wine, cow cheese and blue cheese – the perfect accompaniments to good wine. XO Jemma

At our wine tastings at Fantail & Turtle we pour wines of integrity & authenticity, wines that speak of their terroir, we share stories about the wine-makers that cherish their vineyards and look after the environment. We pour wines for people who care, made by people who care. Sip on a journey through wine on the last Wednesday of every month. Each meeting brings 6 wines, cheese & good company. Hosted by long time wine lover Jemma Grobbelaar.
